Various types of cgm and patients meeting it
Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects the body's ability to regulate blood sugar levels. There are two main types of diabetes: type 1 and type 2. In type 1 diabetes, the body does not produce enough insulin, a hormone that helps regulate blood sugar. This type of diabetes is usually diagnosed in childhood or adolescence and requires daily insulin injections. On the other hand, type 2 diabetes occurs when the body becomes resistant to the effects of insulin or does not produce enough insulin. This type of diabetes is more common in adults and is often associated with lifestyle factors such as poor diet and lack of physical activity.Living with diabetes requires careful management of blood sugar levels. This includes monitoring blood sugar regularly, taking medication as prescribed, and making healthy lifestyle choices. Diet plays a crucial role in managing diabetes. It is important to eat a balanced diet that includes a variety of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats. Avoiding sugary drinks and processed foods is also important. Regular exercise is another key component of diabetes management. Physical activity helps to lower blood sugar levels and improve insulin sensitivity. It is recommended to engage in at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity aerobic activity per week, along with strength training exercises. In addition to diet and exercise, medication may also be necessary to manage diabetes. This can include oral medications or insulin injections, depending on the type and severity of diabetes. It is important to take medication as prescribed and to communicate with healthcare professionals about any concerns or side effects. Regular check-ups with healthcare professionals are also important to monitor blood sugar levels and overall health.Complications of diabetes can include heart disease, kidney disease, nerve damage, and vision problems. Therefore, it is important for individuals with diabetes to manage their condition effectively to prevent these complications. This includes maintaining healthy blood sugar levels, controlling blood pressure and cholesterol levels, and getting regular eye and foot exams. In conclusion, diabetes is a chronic disease that requires careful management of blood sugar levels through a combination of medication, diet, and exercise. It is important for individuals with diabetes to work closely with healthcare professionals to develop a personalized management plan. By making healthy lifestyle choices and staying on top of their condition, individuals with diabetes can lead fulfilling and healthy lives.

I didn't know about the CGM device and i am happy I did this course. I am aware however that the CGM device and SMBG can work together.
I learn about CGM and how convenient it is to use. I also learnt that CGM as an alternative can benefit more people who struggle with needle phobias and the tracking of glucose can be more detailed compared to just having the finger prick.

Know More About CGM
Being a type 1 diabetic since 1977 and a CGMS user since 2017 (I tried some 2nd and 3rd gen ones in 2015 and 2008 respectively), not a lot but am keen to share with colleagues and friends. The testimonials at the end show why funding is so important. In the UK, I am fully funded but I strongly believe many with type 2 could benefit from a sensor being available during key parts of the year to help avoid complications. So thank you ::)
